A Year with Frog and Toad
Welcomed by McQuaig & Welk, PLLC
March 13, 2008 7:00pm

A hit on Broadway, A Year With Frog and Toad was nominated for 3 Tony Awards - including Best Musical. Now, for the first time, an all-new production will tour across North America. Arnold Lobel's beloved characters hop from the page to the stage in Robert and Willie Reale's musical A Year With Frog and Toad. Developed by Mr. Lobel's daughter, Adrianne Lobel, the stage musical remains true to the spirit of the original stories as it follows two great friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the spring, they proceed to plant gardens, swim, rake leaves and go sledding, learning life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship and rejoicing in the attributes that make each of us different and special.

Approx. 60 minutes. Age Appropriateness: Grades K-6, ages 5 and up

"When a child loves you for a long, long time...then you become Real." So says the Horse to the Velveteen Rabbit in Margery Williams' famous and much-loved literary classic. A plush rabbit, given as a gift to a young boy, yearns for the day the boy will choose him as his special playmate, so that he can become real. This innovative production combines the theatrical magic and signature style of Enchantment Theatre with the musical magic of Tony, Emmy and Grammy Award-Winning Composer/Arranger Don Sebesky. With an original musical score, live singers, life-sized puppets, masks and magic, Enchantment Theatre Company brings to life this charming tale of love and devotion, creating an unforgettable theatrical experience for the whole family: Live singing combined with a score from Emmy and Grammy award winning arranger/composer, Don Sebesky, life sized Japanese Banraku pupperts, masks, and an element of magic!

James and the Giant Peach
May 17, 2008 7:00pm

You’ll see things you’ve never heard! --presented in American Sign Language and spoken English by deaf and hearing performers.

James Trotter's life was great until a rhinoceros came and changed everything! Suddenly he was an orphan sent to live with his mean Aunt Spiker and cruel Aunt Sponge. One day while working in the garden, a mysterious man gives James a gift that changes his life again and it involves a magical peach. Join James on his exciting adventure inside the biggest peach the world has ever seen! As he leaves behind the sadness of his life with his vicious Aunts, James sets forth on a journey with larger than life-sized insects. With the wise old green Grasshopper and the eternally pessimistic Earth-worm, among others, James sees oceans and cloud makers; is towed through the sky by seagulls; and creates a stir in the "Big Apple" when the gigantic peach lands on the Empire State Building. James and the Giant Peach is a tale of friendship, love, sadness and triumph.

When you attend a SIGN STAGE on TOUR performance, you will see a unique integration of spoken English and American Sign Language presented on stage… simultaneously. You see the signing of the characters as they speak their lines. You’ll also hear the voice of the same character spoken by a hearing actor. Hearing actors with wireless microphones supply the voices of each of the characters as they sign their lines. Very quickly, you will become accustomed to this new way of enjoying theatre. You will be amazed and delighted with the unique experience that is SIGN STAGE on TOUR!
